The Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online reports that TNA iMPACT drew a 1.2 rating on Spike TV, up from their usual 1.1 rating. This was the company’s first broadcast in HD and featured the all-new redesigned Impact Zone in Orlando, Florida. The highest rated segment featured the Mick Foley/Sting verbal exchange which popped a 1.22 rating. The lowest rated segment featured the Motor City Machine Guns vs. Tanahashi and Volador. The main event match of Kurt Angle vs. Abyss which featured Scott Steiner’s return drew a 1.18 rating, meaning the show retained most of the audience that tuned in for Foley and Sting.

According to a report by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, almost everyone involved in the Monster’s Ball match at the Bound For Glory PPV on October 12 were furious when they came backstage at how special guest referee Steve McMichael handled himself. Complaints involved how he counted very slow, was always in the wrong position and they felt he screwed up the match. The original idea was for McMichael to serve as a special guest enforcer at ringside and have someone interfere to do his spot. However, they didn’t want his role to be done twice in one night with Mick Foley serving as special guest enforcer for Jeff Jarrett vs. Kurt Angle. The decision went back-and-forth the day of the show and Jarrett made the call to have McMichael act as referee in the ring.

TNA iMPACT!
October 30, 2008
Orlando, Florida (iMPACT! Zone @ Universal Studios)
Commentators: Mike Tenay & Don West
Report by: Josh Boutwell of WrestleView.com

The show opens with a video package highlighting the Main Event Mafia and last week’s HD-Debut from the Hard Rock in Las Vegas, Nevada. Again, TNA’s new Impact intro is so much better than the old one. TNA is debuting the new look of the Impact Zone tonight and I must say that it really is pretty awesome.

AJ Styles music hits and we see how cool the new video screens are as AJ and Samoa Joe make their way to the ring. There is one huge video screen on the stage while there are also screens running down the side of the stage and another big screen in the crowd that has a big TNA design on it (it’s an actual video screen instead of just the TNA logo). It really seems like the whole Impact Zone has been redone. Great to see TNA finally step it up. AJ says that he’s glad Mick Foley is in TNA but they’re going to fight this war on their own. AJ says that he’s been in TNA since the beginning and he’s seen it grown. A huge “TNA” chant starts as AJ says that he’s grown along with TNA, and as TNA grows the talent grows. AJ then runs off the names of the Main Event Mafia. AJ then says 3 of those guys were responsible for closing down a company. AJ says that it’s not about the Main Event Mafia but about TNA growing. AJ says that what really bothered him about the beatdown they got from the MEM last week is that some of the young guys that are like his brothers didn’t even bother to help. AJ says that TNA talks about crossing the line and he wants to know what young guys have the balls to cross the line and join him and Joe. Jay Lethal’s music hits and the “Black Machismo” makes his way down to the ring with Consequences Creed, Eric Young, ODB, and Petey Williams trailing behind him. They all shake hands with Joe and AJ as they get in the ring. Joe starts to talk when the Motor City Machine Guns music hits and they make their way down to the ring. Alex Shelley grabs the mic and says that he couldn’t help but notice all the sheep in the ring about to be brainwashed by Joe. Shelley says that they’re not biting and tells Joe to sell him why they should join their war. Joe says that its not “my war, or AJ’s war, its our war and you’re either in or you’re out.” Joe tells Shelley to look in his eyes and its about their future and that it’s in their best entrance to help them go against the guys that have kept them out of the main event scene. Shelley then cracks a joke about Joe needing a mint and then says that Joe doesn’t care about them. Shelley says that Joe hasn’t done anything for them, and then Joe says that he’s going to do something. Joe then slaps the taste out of Shelley’s mouth and Sabin has to hold Shelley back from Joe. Some new Godfather sounding type of music hits and it’s the Main Event Mafia’s theme as they walk out to the ring all dressed in suits. Kurt Angle says that the guys in the ring are a disgrace to theirselves, the business, TNA, and the fans. Kurt says that the MEM are family. Kurt says they have over 75 years of experience, and that experience demands respect. Kurt says they didn’t ask for this war and all they wanted was a thank you. Kevin Nash says that he tried to teach Samoa Joe how to act towards the starts, but all he did was spit in Nash’s face. Remember the PPV several months ago that Scott Hall no-showed? Nash says that the reason he didn’t show up was because Hall said Joe wasn’t worth the rub and Nash says he was right. Nash tells them if they want a war then they got a war. Booker T. calls all the guys in the ring bums and calls them chickens. Booker tells them that if they want to talk about the MEM then they talk about them to their faces. Booker then says the war starts tonight and by the end of the year there will be no one left from the guys in the ring. Booker then says “It’s all about the 5” and holds up 5 fingers. Tenay and West discuss whether or not that could mean a 5th member.

In the back Jeremy Borash is with Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett says he’s not going to do anything because Joe and AJ can handle themselves. Mick Foley then walks into Jarrett’s office and says that tonight he’s going to have a heart-to-heart with Sting. Jeff then starts to walk out and Mick asks him where he’s going. Jeff replies with “I’m going to take a Kurt” and Mick tells him to make sure to “wipe your Angle.” JB then asks Mick what he’s going to say to Sting. Mick says that as an executive shareholder with TNA he has to keep all of his investments online and that includes Sting.

Back from commercials Lauren is in the back with The Beautiful People and Kip James. The backstage has even been revamped. Angelina asks since when has Chirsty Hemme become an actual wrestler. Angelina tells Christy to stick to the pages of Playboy with her “silicone boobies and botox injected doggy face.” Angelina says that the ring is no place for Chirsty unless she’s asking for her a makeover which they will gladly give her. Velvet then asks ODB if she’s a tranny and says that she’s about as female as Rosie O’Donnell and she O.D.’ed on ugly pills. Velvet says they’re sick of the jealously.

Knockouts Tag Match
The Beautiful People w/Kip James vs. Chirsty Hemme & ODB

Boy, does the Beautiful People have the best entrance in wrestling minus Kip James. Chirsty and Velvet lockup and Velvet gets a waistlock, and she throws Christy to the mat. Velvet stomps on Christy on the mat and then picks her up and locks her in a side headlock. Christy fights out of it with elbows and then shoves her into the ropes. Christy then sweeps Velvet to the mat and puts an arm bar on Velvet. Christy tags in ODB who hits Velvet with an axe handle drop off the middle rope as Christy held her. Velvet then runs to her corner and tags in Angelina. Angelina charges at ODB but she hits a drop toe hold on Angelina. ODB attempts to whip Angelina into the ropes but she reverses it, but ODB hits a shoulder block for a two count. ODB then puts a wrist lock and a full arm twist on Angelina and tags in Christy. Christy then hits a modified Axe Kick on Angelina’s arm as ODB held it. Christy grabs the full arm twist but Angelina hits a forearm and throws Christy into Velvet Sky who punches Christy in the back. Christy then turns around tries to slap Velvet but Velvet hits a jawbreaker on Christy onto the top rope. Christy falls backwards into a big spinning heel kick from Angelina. Angelina then pulls Christy to the center of the ring and slams her head into the mat. Velvet tags in and they both hit the Holler Double Elbow Drop. Velvet then puts her boot on Christy’s throat and pulls her arms upward choking her. Velvet then tags in Angelina back in. Angelina kicks Christy in the ribs and then whips her into the corner. Angelina charges but Christy hits a back elbow. Christy and Angelina trade forearms but Angelina gets the upperhand with a knee to the gut. Angelina whips Velvet into the ropes and goes for a clothesline, but Christy ducks and they both take each other down by the hair at the same time. Both tag out at the same time and ODB immediately takes Velvet down with forearms and elbows. ODB whips Velvet into the corner and hits a big splash followed by a Fallaway Slam. ODB then hits a Running Powerslam and goes for the pin but Angelina breaks it up at two. Christy Hemme then runs in and kicks Angelina to the floor. Kip James checks on Angelina and then Christy jumps off the ring apron onto to Kip and starts punching him. Back in the ring Velvet hits chops to ODB and goes for a clothesline, but ODB ducks and hits a sitout side slam for the pinfall.

Winners: ODB and Christy Hemme via pinfall (Sitout Side Slam)

In the back Lauren is with the Motor City Machine Guns. The Guns walk up to Joe and says that they should forget about what happened tonight and the only way to progress is to move forward not backward. Sabin says that they understand what Joe is trying to do for the company and that they’re in. Joe says when it comes to allies he has trust issues and says “when the shots are fired, we’ll see if the guns shoot back.”

Back from commercials JB is in the back with Eric Young. Eric says that he’s been with TNA for five years and now there is a lot on the line and this time it’s serious. Eric says he’s sick and tired of taking it laying down and tonight he shows who he really is.

“Cowboy” James Storm w/Robert Roode & Jacqueline vs. “Showtime” Eric Young

Jacky is actually wearing a pants suit to the ring in a different look. EY doesn’t get scared by the pyro tonight and he’s not even Super Eric! After the pyro EY sprints to the ring but Storm beats on him as he gets in the ring. Storm slaps Young and then goes for another slap, but he blocks it and throws Storm into the corner. Young with big right hands in the corner and he is pumped up. Young attempts to whip Storm into the opposite corner but Storm reverses it. Young nips up in the corner as Storm charges and then ducks a charging Storm again and hits a dropkick. Young then hits a back heel kick and again attempts to whip Storm in the corner, but again Storm reverses it. Storm charges Young again and Young tosses him to the apron, but Storm hits a big Enziguri from the ring apron sending Young to the floor. On the floor Roode beats on him and then rolls him back into the ring. Storm then hits a Spike DDT followed by a snapmare. Storm locks in a sleeper on Young but he fights to his feet and hits elbows. Storm goes for a clothesline on Young, but Young ducks and then Storm hits a big Flying Knee. Storm then hits the Eye of the Storm but only gets a two count. Storm then goes for it again but Young attempts a clothesline. Storm ducks the clothesline as Jacqueline argues with the referee. Storm had Young in a waistlock and forced him over to the ropes where Roode was waiting with a mouthful of beer. Young ducked out of the way and Roode accidentally spit the beer in Storm’s face allowing Young to roll up Storm for the win!

Winner: Eric Young via pinfall (rollup)

After the match Robert Roode attacks Young and Beer Money beat him down. A security guard tried to get in the ring but as he jumped onto the apron Storm hit a nasty Last Call (Superkick) that sent the guy flying. The Machine Guns run down and make the save with double Enziguri’s! It looks the Machine Guns are forreal. They shake Young’s hand and raise his arms.

Taylor and Roxxi are walking backstage with weapons and they say they’re going after Kong.

Another Suicide promo is run after commercials this time saying “Patience will be rewarded…Their punishment will be severe.”

Wow, Don West announces that tonight Japanese superstar Hiroshi Tanahashi will be teaming up with the man that won the Ultimate X Match at Victory Road that secured the World X-Cup victory for Team Mexico: Volador Jr.! Also, the Main Event Mafia’s Kevin Nash & Booker T. will be facing Samoa Joe and AJ Styles, Mick Foley will call out Sting, and in the Main Event Kurt Angle will face Abyss!

JB approaches Awesome Kong in the lockeroom and before much can be said Taylor and Roxxi storm in and attack Raisha and Kong with pipes. They put a vicious beat down on both Raisha Saeed and Awesome Kong.

Motor City Machine Guns vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi & Volador Jr.

This is Tanahashi’s first match in TNA since 2006 I believe and Volador’s first since the Victory Road PPV. Tanahashi is one of the biggest rising stars in Japan and Volador is one of the top young, exciting luchadores in CMLL. X-Division Champion: Sheik Abdul Bashir will be providing guest commentary for this match. Tanahashi actually has actual theme music instead of the generic music Japanese wrestlers usually get in TNA. I’m going to do my best Mike Tenay impression and give you some background on Volador Jr., he is the son of the original Volador (also known as Super Parka) and the cousin of the original La Parka (now known as L.A. Park). Volador actually means “Flier” in Spanish. He is a regular partner with Mexican superstar Mistico in the CMLL promotion and he of course won the Ultimate X Match in this year’s World X-Cup that gave his team the victory. Tanahashi and Volador attack the Guns before the bell rings. Volador attempts to whip Sabin into the ropes but he reverses it and goes for a clothesline, but Volador ducks and hits a beautiful Flying Headscissors sending Sabin to the floor. Volador then hits a beautiful Summersault Plancha over the top rope onto Sabin on the floor! Back in the ring Tanahashi hangs Shelley up in the middle rope and Volador springboards off the top with a Guillotine Leg Drop! Tanahashi then wheel barrows Shelley up and drops him down onto a Facebreaker from Volador for a two count. Tanahashi hits some big forearms and then attempts to whip Shelley into the ropes, but Shelley reverses it and Tanahashi hits a big Flying Forearm out of nowhere. Tanahashi then hits a Back Splash Senton and then a Summersault Senton for a two count. Tanahashi then hits several body shots on Shelley in the corner and throws his sweat onto Shelley, but Shelley comes back with a spinning back kick. Shelley then goes for a scoop slam, but Tanahashi reverses it into a Dragon Sleeper! Sabin attempts to break it up but Tanahashi just drops Shelley and kicks Sabin in the gut. Tanahashi throws Sabin to the floor and tags in Volador. Volador hits a big powerbomb then attempts an Asai Moonsault but Shelley moves and Volador eats the mat. Shelley crawls towards his corner and Tanahashi grabs his leg to try and stop him, but Shelley kicks him in the face and tags in Sabin. Sabin goes lucha and hits a springboard into a nice arm drag on Volador followed by a basement dropkick to Tanahashi’s knee. Sabin then attempts a kick to the gut on Volador but he catches Sabin’s leg and Sabin hits an Enziguri! Sabin then clotheslines Tanahashi to the floor and hits a back elbow on Volador in the corner. Shelley then hits a springboard Clothesline for a two count, but Tanahashi interrupts the pinfall. Shelley with a spinning heel kick on Tanahashi sending him to the floor and then hits a slingshot plancha onto him on the floor! Back in the ring Sabin goes for the Cradle Shock but Volador escapes it. Sabin goes for a clothesline but Volador ducks and kicks Sabin in the head and then hits a Superkick. Volador attempts to whip Sabin into a corner but Sabin reverses it. Shelley hits an Enziguri to the back of Volador’s head while Sabin hits a Yakuza Kick at the same time. Sabin then puts Volador on his shoulders in a crucifix position while Shelley climbs to the top. Shelley hits a sick Double Stomp onto Volador’s head and then Sabin drops him with the Cradle Shock for the pin!

Winners: Motor City Machine Guns via pinfall (Cradle Shock)

After the match Bashir starts screaming and kicking things. Bashir gets in the ring and starts screaming at Volador and Tanahashi. He actually slaps Volador until Rhino comes in the ring. Volador points and Bashir turns around right into the Gore!

Back from commercial Lauren is in the back with Christian Cage. Christian agrees to Booker’s challenge from last week. Christian says that one week Booker is pretending he’s hunting animals in Africa and the next he thinks he’s a gangsta. He says that Booker is confused about who is, but Christian will always be the champ! Christian says the side he will end up on is the one he’s always been on, his.

Main Event Mafia (Booker T. & Kevin Nash) w/Sharmell vs. “Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe & “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles

AJ and Nash will start the match off. Nash tries to lock up with AJ but he ducks and puts Nash in a waistlock. Nash then quickly gets to the ropes. They circle each other and Nash runs in with a knee strike and then a big forearm. Nash then hits another big forearm and a big right hand. AJ fights back with body shots and a dropkick to Nash’s knee. AJ then knocks Booker to the floor and hits a springboard Missile Dropkick on Nash. Joe then hits a Suicide Dive through the ropes on Booker on the outside as we go to commercials. Back from commercials Joe hits jabs to Nash’s face and then chokes Nash into the corner. Joe hits headbutt’s on Nash and then a forearm and a chop. Joe attempts to whip Nash into the ropes but Nash reverses it and hits a big back elbow. Nash tags in Booker and he chops Joe’s chest, but Joe comes back with several vicious chops. Booker then pokes Joe in the eye and goes for some knee strikes, but Joe blocks them and comes off the ropes with a shoulder block. Booker leapfrogs a charging Joe and then drops down avoiding Joe again, and Nash hits Joe from behind. Booker then hits the Axe Kick on Joe but AJ quickly breaks up the pin attempt. Nash tells the ref to get AJ out of the ring and he drops down 2 elbow drops for a two count even though he never tagged in. Classic heel tag team wrestling from the MEM. Nash then hits a big Sidewalk Slam on Joe for a two count. Nash tags Booker in and he hits a big body shot as Nash held Joe. Booker then hits a big back heel kick for another two count. Booker transitions the pin attempt into a elbow lock, but Joe fights out with elbows. Booker then hits another big knee and tags Nash back in. Booker holds Joe down and Nash drops another elbow for a two count. Nash throws Joe into a corner and hits several knee’s to Joe’s ribs and then Booker punches Joe as the ref argues with AJ. Booker tags back in and hits a snapmare on Joe followed by a sleeper hold. Joe fights to his feet and hits elbows but Booker stops him with a big knee and goes for the Axe Kick again, but Joe comes out of nowhere with a Snap Powerslam! Joe is able to tag out to AJ. AJ with clotheslines and forearms to both Nash and Booker. AJ whips Booker into the corner and charges but Booker backdrops AJ onto the apron. AJ then springboards off the top with a Flying Forearm on Booker, and then hits an Enziguri to Nash. AJ then locks in the Flying Armbar on Booker, but Nash breaks it up with a headbutt. Booker holds AJ and Nash charges but Joe comes out of nowhere and locks the Coquina Clutch on Nash! Booker then breaks it up and ducks a clothesline from AJ. Booker goes for the Axe Kick but AJ moves and nails the Palay for the pinfall!

Winners: Samoa Joe and AJ Styles via pinfall (Palay)

After the match all of the young guys run down to celebrate with Joe and AJ. The Guns shake AJ’s hand.

In the back Lauren is with Abyss and Matt Morgan. Abyss thanks Lauren for asking about Abyss’s burns and he says it’s just a flesh wound. Matt Morgan says that Abyss is not mentally or physically ready for Angle, and Morgan isn’t going to be allowed to help him. Abyss says that Matt forgets what Kurt did to them but he doesn’t. Abyss starts laughing as we got commercial.

TNA shows a recap of Mick’s announcement last week. In the back JB is with TNA World Champ: Sting. Sting says that nobody has officially confirmed to him that Mick Foley is his boss. Sting says that he hasn’t seen Mick in over a decade and that he’s going to go into this thing tonight with an open mind, and hopes that Mick doesn’t close it.

Back from commercial Mick Foley’s music hits and the new boss in TNA is on his way to the ring. Foley says “how bout this new Impact Zone?!” He says it looks pretty damn good. Mick takes claim for the changes. Mick says that the election is coming up and everyone needs to tell their friends to vote, but while they’re talking to them tell them that TNA is now in HD on Spike every Thursday! Mick says that he already has 2 huge Main Events for Turning Point. One is Samoa Joe vs. Kevin Nash and the second on is TNA Champion: Sting defending his title against AJ Styles! Now, that’s what I’m talking about. Foley then asks Sting to come out to the ring. Sting’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring. Mick says that he believes that it was Sting who put him on the map way back in 1991. Mick says that nobody knew who Cactus Jack was until his hardcore feud with Sting in WCW. Mick says that Sting has his respect both as a wrestler and as a man, which made it all that more difficult to see him standing with the Main Event Mafia. Mick says he wants to know why and that in his opinion that everyone in TNA is on the verge of something very big. Mick says that as the Champion of TNA he sees Sting as the glue that holds all the pieces of TNA together (the young guys like AJ and Joe, the X-Division, the Knockouts, etc.). Mick says that instead of being the glue Sting seems to be like a wedge trying to drive those pieces away. Sting says that he wanted to be the glue, but what he had to say was rejected b y the Joe’s and AJ’s. Sting then says that Mick had respect for Terry Funk and Mick agreed. Sting says that that respect is what’s lacking from TNA. Mick says that he disagrees and that he knows that Sting is going to do what he wants to do and Sting needs to understand that Mick will do what he needs to do. Sting then says that this war isn’t Mick’s, it’s his.

In the back JB is with Kurt Angle and Kurt throws JB out of the way. Kurt asks Jeff Jarrett how long he’s going to hide behind Abyss. Kurt says that he has an obsession and that obsession is getting Jarrett in the ring. Kurt says he knows what makes Jeff tick and that he doesn’t want him to go there. Kurt says he’s capable and willing of doing anything.

Back from commercials Mike Tenay announces that along with the two Main Event’s Mick Foley announced and the Legends Title at Turning Point Rhino will face Sheik Abdul Bashir in a Grudge Match and Beer Money will defend their tag titles against the Motor City Machine Guns!

Main Event
“Olympic Hero” Kurt Angle vs. “The Monster” Abyss

Kurt is back to his old rising platform from under the stage entrance. They circle each other in the ring but before they lock up Kurt retreats to the apron. Kurt gets a waistlock and then a side headlock but Abyss picks him up and then throws him into the ropes and hits a big shoulder block. Angle gets back up and gets in Abyss’s face but Abyss just shoves back to the mat. Abyss hits several big punches in the corner on Angle. Angle then hits a kick to Abyss’s gut and charges off the ropes but Abyss takes him down again. Kurt retreats to the outside but Abyss follows him as Kurt walks up the ramp. Abyss hits him from behind and hits a big right hand. Abyss rolls Kurt back into the ring but Kurt hits several kicks to Abyss’s knee. Kurt then comes off the ropes but Abyss catches him with a Sidewalk Slam for a two count. Abyss hits a clothesline on Angle to the outside and this time Angle retreats over the guard rail into the crowd as we go to commercials. Back from commercials Abyss knocks Angle down the stairs! Abyss then throws Angle into a wall breaking it! Abyss looks psycho and smiling as he threatens to hit the referee. Abyss throws Kurt Angle over the guard rail and then rolls him back in the ring. Abyss goes for a Chokeslam but Angle kicks him in the knee and then chop blocks him. Kurt is working on the knee now with several kicks to it. Angle hits another chop block to that knee as Abyss stood back up, and again Kurt hits another chop block. As Abyss stands up Angle charges him but Abyss hits a big forearm. Kurt hits a big right hand and another one but they aren’t really affecting Abyss. Abyss starts screaming and Angle comes off the ropes but Abyss hits a Big Boot and then clotheslines. Abyss hits a Big Splash in the corner and then hits the Shock Treatment for a two count. Abyss calls for the Chokeslam and goes for but Angle rolls through and transitions into the Ankle Lock! Abyss rolls over and kicks Angle off and then hits the Chokeslam for another close two count! Angle hits 2 leg kicks and then the Angle Slam, but Abyss kicks out at two! Kurt climbs to the rope for a Moonsault, but Abyss Powerbombs him off the top for another two! Kurt rolls to the outside and grabs a steel chair and when Abyss comes to the outside Angle destroys him with a vicious chair shot causing the DQ.

Winner: Abyss via DQ

After the match Angle locks Abyss in the Ankle Lock, but Abyss kicks him off. Angle then pulls Abyss’s shirt up and starts scraping Abyss’s burns and locks the Ankle Lock on again. Angle is one sick individual. Matt Morgan runs out to make the save and hits the big Carbon Footprint laying Angle out. Kevin Nash and Booker T. then run out and make the save for Kurt. Nash hits vicious chair shots on Morgan and Abyss, and then chokes Abyss with the chair until the young guys run out to the ring! Scott Steiner then comes out of nowhere with a lead pipe and nails Joe and AJ with it! Steiner then stops from hitting Petey with it but lays everyone else out! Nash, Angle, and Booker come back in and continue the beatdown. Sting walks down to the ring and looks at the carnage. Sting checks on AJ and helps him to the feet and AJ spit at Sting causing him to nail the Scorpion Death Drop! The Main Event Mafia raise their hands in celebration as their music plays to end TNA in a wild way!

The UK Sun has posted an interview with TNA World Champion Sting, which can be read here in its entirety. Some highlights:

Sting says he expected to retire this year, but TNA’s “Main Event Mafia” storyline has him excited about a final run in TNA: “I don’t know when it will end for sure, but as long as I stay healthy into 2009. But how far into 2009 I don’t know. Actually it’s over the last couple of years it seems the thought has been in-and-out… these thoughts of retirement and everything else but under the circumstances I think that I want to stick it out for one last – and this is THE last – hurrah.”

Sting feels that a big part of TNA’s potential growth depends on proper support from Spike TV. “The other thing I’m hoping for is a bigger commitment from our channel Spike TV and seeing them even further step up to the plate. I hope I don’t get in trouble for saying that – this might be the last you see of me on TV!”

Sting is concerned about the future of wrestling and doesn’t want TNA to follow the same path WCW took. “I want to protect wrestling and TNA so we don’t se another WCW story. I want to start laying the foundations now with some of the younger guys,” he said. “Despite everything, the Samoa Joes, the A.J. Styles, they are the future. I’m not, they are. And I honestly do want some of the younger guys to remember and look back and reflect and say: ‘You know, he really wasn’t out for himself.’”

Sting reveals he came close to signing with WWE several times in the past. “Yes, I was really close at least three, four times over the years. A few times in the early 1990s, when I chose TNA and once at a real key moment when WCW had overtaken WWE as the No1 group in wrestling. And I was pretty much at the peak of WCW, in their peak days. I forget how many weeks in a row WCW beat them in the ratings wars but it got really bad for WWE – WWF at the time. That was a key moment, and I was really close to jumping.”

Although Sting says he’s still like to have one dream match against The Undertaker, he has no desire to wrestle in WWE. “WWE (is) a worldwide, huge, massive machine and always have been. The guys that have had any kind of run up there are now recognized all over the world. If there was something missing in my career, that would be it.”

Here is the preview for tonight’s TNA Impact from TNAwrestling.com:

On Thursday night, TNA Wrestling returns to SpikeTV with two hours of Total Nonstop Action featuring Mick Foley as the new Executive Shareholder of TNA!

A NEW LOOK FOR “iMPACT!” ON THURSDAY NIGHT: TNA is now High Definition on SpikeTV – and this week we debut our all-new “iMPACT” zone, featuring some very cool additions to our home arena in Orlando, Florida! Starting this Thursday night at 9pm ET, “iMPACT” goes to the next level!

The below is a preview of the broadcast – the card is subject to change:

- After what went down on the live broadcast involving the formation of the Main Event Mafia alliance of Sting, Kevin Nash, Kurt Angle and Booker T, the wrestling world wants to know how the young lions like Samoa Joe and AJ Styles will react. According to sources, Joe and AJ have already begun recruiting other superstars to join their side – and they plan to speak out this Thursday night on SpikeTV! Will all hell break loose as the war between the Main Event Mafia and the new generation continues to intensify? Tune in and find out!

- BUT, the big question is what will unfold on the broadcast as NEW TNA Executive Shareholder Mick Foley assumes power on “iMPACT!”. Will Foley have something to say about the Main Event Mafia vs. the new generation? How will he change the landscape of TNA in his new role as shareholder with the company? Plus, we understand TNA founder Jeff Jarrett will be on the broadcast along with Foley to address the announcement!

- In Knockouts tag team action, it will be The Beautiful People facing the team of Christy Hemme and ODB

- The Motor City Machineguns will be in tag team action

- According to sources, “The Instant Classic” Christian Cage will make his decision whether he will fight Booker T at Turning Point on November 9! If Cage wins, he would get the Legends Championship. If he loses, he would be forced to join The Main Event Mafia!

» No one seems to know where former WWE/WCW wrestler Perry Saturn is. Some of his closest friends actually believe he’s not alive, but no one has proof one way or the other. At the funeral of Killer Kowalski, the whereabouts of Perry Saturn was the number one topic of conversation with a number of his friends saying they didn’t believe he was alive. I did a missing persons check this morning and found nothing.

» In an interesting match-up, “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka & Axl Rotten will be teaming up to face former WWE star Salvatore Sincere & Dino Divine on Saturday, November 22 at the York County School of Technology in York, PA.

» Former WWE Diva/TNA Knockout Shelly Martinez has plans to continue her career in professional wrestling as she is set to start in the AAA promotion in Mexico, if she hasn’t already. She was slated to make her debut in the promotion last Friday. She will be part of a faction – Degeneration Mex, Foreign Legion or one of the goth groups. AAA officials had an idea for her to join Degeneration Mex on 10/15, but plans between her & the company weren’t finalized in time. Degeneration Mex features Sean Waltman, Teddy Hart and Jack Evans.
